Default \Windows\System32\Config\System. Missing or corrupt, HUGE ERROR.

Hello, i've installed windows xp professional on my toshiba tecra M3. After installing it, it came up with this error. I read a blog, i inserted the cd, and when i pressed r. It didn't go straight to the Recovery system, it just rebooted. so i done it manually, and went to the recovery system. I was told to copy these files, But it just said "The file could not be copied" I thought something was really damaged inside my computer. Is that the reason?

I would just start over and reinstall Win XP...saves time and gives you a better and clean system

Is Win XP the same system that the computer came with at purchase?

If not you may have a compatibility issue with Win XP drivers

I've had that error once. Turned out my HDD was bad. You can just reinstall Windows XP again but you might get the error again sooner or later if it is in fact a bad HDD. If it's possible from your Toshiba, you should run diagnostics from the boot menu. Also read this for other solutions:
