Default Windows XP Home Edition Disc Pack 2

    Hello Members,
I have installed the disc and everything was fine until I was asked to ''activate windows now'' and I clicked yes but nothing happened.I understand that I would have to be online to do this and since installing the disc everything has been wiped and I only have Windows XP Home Edition on my laptop. Is there anything I can do to put the necessary things I need back on my laptop such as internet connection.I know it was too big a task for me to do,having limited IT knowledge, but everyone likes to try.I hope there is one person out there who can come up with a solution.Thanks,David.

You need to load the drivers from Dell...probably with a thumb drive
(unless you have the Dell recovery disks...there should be a driver disk)
    Product Selection | Dell US

You need the driver for the network connection first....to access the Internet

Are you using the Dell recovery disks or a Win XP DVD?

    Hello abseh1
The disc is a cd with product key code. The laptop has only got windows xp home edition on it.If I click ''yes'' in the activation window I get the make of the laptop and a list of what it can do.If I click ''no'' I get a page in two halves,-to the left ''welcome'',bottom left a button, turn off computer and to the right-a small square picture ''me'' and the right side bottom-after you logon, you can add or change accounts.Just go to control panel and click user accounts.I need to add internet connection so I can download what I need, but how do I do this? Thanks.

    Hello abseh1,
Thank you for your time and effort.
I want to thank mich also, she was dealing with my sound.
I have cured all of my problems by installing Windows 7 ultimate.
I now have a fast PC and everything is working fine and that includes the sound.
Sorry for the frustration I have caused to both of you.Case closed.David.
