    Post IE not resetting homepage

My wife bought a Microsoft Surface tablet and runs Windows 8.1. While setting up IE for her I accidently typed a comma instead of a full stop into the homepage title. Now it displays the "cannot display this page" message which is understandable. I have tried the IE tools path and many other ways to change the homepage without success. Restarting the tablet sees a reversion to the faulty homepage. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi RDL,

    Sorry for the delay...

Changing the home page should work as shown in this link.

Let me know if that helps or not.

    You're most welcome, Sir RDL.

The easiest way I know to fix that is to remove what you typed in then open the home page in the browser and copy and paste the address from the url field.

    Keep me informed dear friend.

Tried what you said Babyblues but menus did not correspond. Finally sorted it by using the "refresh files" option. This seemed to restore original registry settings and I was able to reset the desired homepage. Many thanks for your help. It is much appreciated.

Well by golly! I am so glad you got it sorted.

I have to admit that even though I am not a Win 8/8.1 fan (I am still old school), I do like that Refresh feature that is included. It's nice to know you can return your system to defaults without losing your files or having to go through the process of transferring them to an external.

    Till next time dear friend,
