    Default Access to Component Services

I need to use the "Component Services Administrator Tool" but don't have the necessary access.

My knowledge of my access level is that my User Account has me at the Administrator level.

    Any help is appreciated.

    OOps

My machine is now a Lenovo Ideapad 300 with windows 10

    Thanks

    Hi red-tab,

When trying to access Component Services, what happens on your end?

Not sure if this will help > 4 Ways to Open Component Services in Windows 10
If you think you might be infected with malware or have recently cleansed your computer of malware without the help of an expert, please read and follow the instructions in How to Start Removing Viruses and Spyware from your Computer. This can alleviate time consumed in trouble shooting your current computer problems.

If your problem is solved, here's how to say thanks!

I tried all "4 Ways to Open Component Services in Windows 10" but no luck

What I'm trying to do is grant a Security Permission by:

    1. Run dcomcnfg
    2 Select "Computers"
    3 Select "My Computer"
    4 Select "DCOM Config"
5 From the list right click the Appl ID and select "Properties"
    6 Select the "security tab"

On the "Security Panel" I'm locked out of all input fields.

Again - Thanks for any help

This is obviously a permissions issue related to the users account. I reached out to one of the other techs here at H2G and he (zep516) found the following link that seems to be associated with what you are experiencing. Have a look and let us know if it helps any.

On a side note, have you tried accessing Component Services > Computers > My Computer > DCOM Config -> Appl ID using the hidden built-in elevated Administrator account?

Enable or Disable Elevated Administrator account in Windows 10

    hi

    Still working at this.

Question - does your statement "This is obviously a permissions issue related to the users account. I reached out to one of the other techs here at H2G and he (zep516) found the following link that seems to be associated with what you are experiencing. Have a look and let us know if it helps any." mean that there should be a link besides the above link to the "elevated administrator"
link that you provided me with?

    Thanks again for any help.

    PS

I rebuilt my operating system but it didn't do any good.

No. The link I posted is the one I was talking about..

How did you go about rebuilding your system? Backup, retail media, factory recovery, etc?

First I disconnected my machine from the Internet to avoid any updating.
Then I loaded my OS to it's original state ("Out of the Box")
    The problem still existed.
Guess I'm way over my head on this.

Let's see if we can get some Event ID's. Try accessing Component Services Administrator Tool before doing the following. That way we know for sure that we have a recent event logged:

    1. Please download the Event Viewer Tool by Vino Rosso and save it to your Desktop:
    2. Right-click VEW.exe and Run AS Administrator
    3. Under Select log to query, select:

    * System

    4. Under Select type to list, select:

    * Error
    * Warning

Then for the Number of events, do as follows:

    5. Click the radio button for Number of events
    6. Type 20 in the 1 to 20 box
    7. Then click the Run button.

Notepad will open with the output log.

Please post the Output log in your next reply.

Repeat the instructions above though 2nd time around select Application.

Please note: Each time you run VEW.exe it overwrites the log so make sure to copy the first one into a Reply (or rename it) before running it a second time.

I can't get to the "event Viewer Program"

When I try the link I get
    Server not found
Firefox can’t find the server at images.malwar...om.

    When I change "images.malwar...om" to "images.malware.com" I still get
    Server not found
Firefox can’t find the server at images.malware.com.

I've also tried a number of searches but had no luck.

    GOT IT
    Found it at images.malwareremoval.com/vino/VEW.exe
