When i start my computer up the desktop icons don't load up. Only about 3 mins after the taskbar has loaded up. I think it has something to do with a disabled startup that appears in the Start Menu. I am using Windows 2000 Professional.
    Please help!

If the icons appear after this 3 minute wait then the problem is with the start up process.
Either you have too many programs being loaded, your antivirus or some other program is scanning your disk during the process or the system is having difficulty in finding a particular file, usually a driver.

Again I stipulate that if the icons do appear after a long delay then the problem is with the startup procedure.
Not every program running in the background has an icon.
Do you have any of the following installed.
Any norton product, any file share program such as kazaa, bearshare, any download managers, 3rd paty explorer addins, firwall All of these add junk to a system including spyware. Most cause major problems with systems.
Download and run AdAware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com and get rid of the junk.
Also firwall programs like Zone Alarm can take forever to load.

Nope it is defintely not any of those i have norton anti-virus but i installed it after the problem started.
i already have ad-aware so my computer is probably spyware free.

Reinstall the OS. You could spend the next year trying to solve what is probably a surrupt system.
