For some reason the compute seems tocache the contents of my A: drive, so that, if I change the floppy and refresh it still shows the contents of the previous disk. It'll even try to load a file if I click on it.

It happens wherever I go at it from: an Open File dialogue box within a program, Explorer etc.

    Any ideas?

The floppy controller does have it's own cache which should be flushed out whenever the drive flap is opened.
If the signal does not make it it could be due to either of the following.
Bad cable. Check for continuity on pin 34.
Drive configuration/Setup. Make sure that the DC jumper is enabled; check CMOS Setup for proper drive type.
Bad Disk Change sensor. Clean sensor or replace drive and retest.
Bad drive logic board. Replace drive and retest.

Bad controller. Replace controller and retest.

    Thanks - I'll try those.
