I need some help with my mouse. Up until 2 days ago it was working fine. Since then it has become very erratic and very difficult to control. Often as you pass the mouse over something it will highlight it or try to open it as if it has been right clicked.
I should also mention that about half the time Windows 98 says that it cannot detect a mouse. When this happens we hit OK to bypass it. The mouse will work but not well. However, even when it does detect the mouse the mouse does not work any better.
A new mouse has not helped at all.
I really don't know much about computers and any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

The first thing to do is check the connection. it is not uncommon for the computer socket to be damaged.
You might want to try a serial or USB mouse if you are currently using a PS2 type or the reverse.
Another problem can be a faulty graphics card, a too low or high a monitor refresh rate. or even a faulty mother board.
Go to http://www.pcpitstop.com and run their free system check.
