I need some help with my mouse. Up until 2 days ago it was working fine. Since then it has become very erratic and very difficult to control. Often as you pass the mouse over something it will highlight it or try to open it as if it has been right clicked.
I should also mention that about half the time Windows 98 says that it cannot detect a mouse. When this happens we hit OK to bypass it. The mouse will work but not well. However, even when it does detect the mouse the mouse does not work any better.
A new mouse has not helped at all.
I really don't know much about computers and any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
I should also say that the mouse gets worse the longer you use it.

Most problems that increase in intesity as usage time increases are caused by either the system resources depleting over time or a virus is causing a problem.
(There is a few viruses that will occupy empty space until a system reboot)
If you are running on Win98 use the system resource meter (Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools.) Take note of what programs you open if the meter jumps.
Also run a virus scan, disc scan and clean disk
