How can I transfer music from my hi-fi to my hard disc? I plugged the minidisc/turntable into an amp then into computer. (in audio) Nothing happens.
Do I need to buy software?
Have a newish computer (this year) and windows xp.
    Appreciate any ideas. Cheers

To record music directly from a HI-Fi system you need to use the Line Out (if one exists) from the hi-fi and the Line -In socket on the sound card.
Also make sure the Record Settings have Line In Checked (Click on the speaker in the system tray. Choose Options>Properties>record. check all the boxes then click OK
Once finished clcik on Options>Properties>Playback and check all the boxes .
You will now have controls for all media.
If your Hi-Fi does not have a Line Out socket use tape out or similar.

Whoozhe, thanks for the advice. I tried it, ticked the box but all I can do is record for one minute. Could it be I don't have the correct software? I only bought the computer earlier this year so I'm surprised it's not on it already!
I've looked at alot of computer books and there's no mention re my problem! Strange. I take it that software is available.
If you know anything about it, will you get back to me. Cheers.
