Hello, My laptop(You've never heard of it - Spartan HB8703) gets stuck in sleep mode, it can be upon boot up or while in windows while I'm working. It will not refresh when keys are hit. I've adjusted power management several times in the bios but nothing works. I've tried to find bios info but aparently my bios is a mystery. I was thinking that I could update the bios to fix my problem. I've had my laptop for about four years and really can't afford to buy another one. BTW I also use linux (I dual boot) and the problem exists there also. If interested I'm posting the info supplied from a bios checker:

This file has recorded information useful in identifying the manufacturer

Spartan HB8703 is actually the power supply adaptor not the computer brand.
Your problem may not be a bios one but a software problem.
I am not a linux user so I haven't clue from here on.

    thanks for your reply.
I use windows as my primary os and I also use linux. If it is a software issue, what software if I adjusted power management in both my bios and windows. linux was deleted, so it's no longer a variable. I'm a little confused by your take on the model name and number as my users guide lists the name as spartan. Do you suggest I reformat my drive and do a complete reinstall?

    Disable the power management software.
As most power consumption is used by the monitor you can simply switch it off.
I have yet to find any power saving system that never has a problem.
