I am building my own computer right now and it seems that the computer doesn't display anything on the screen. I know the monitor is working, the video card is brand new, i checked the cpu and ram and they are working too. another thing i noticed is that the hard drive stops spinning after a while. can someone give me some advise please.

hen building a computer it is wise to test each component as you build it.
An example would be firing up the computer prior to installing any cards or software, including an operating system. As long as the hard drive is formatted, the bios is correct a system should boot up into a black screen with a C; prompt. This tells you that the basics are working.
If you do not see anything then the problem is with the motherboard and bios settings.
Once you have the basics working install the operating system but not any other software.
Add each card and devices one at a time until it works properly starting with the graphics card.
