OS is NT4.0 sp6 with IE 6 sp1. The favorites folder is in the user profile with her favorites listed - However when you have the browser open and select favorites the list that is displayed is the WINNT folder and all it's folders and files. If you select Add Favorite it is added to the WINNT folder.

Our unhelpful tech support folks tried to tell me the WINNT folder is just a shortcut and to delete it however it is not a shortcut it's the actual folder. They didn't have any other suggestions.

Any ideas on how to have IE look at the favorites folder rather than the WINNT folder? Is there some path or something in the registry that could be creating this problem?

    Any ideas?

It is possible to change this location to another folder by directly editing the registry. However, you can easily change it with TweakUI.
Once you've got TweakUI, just go to the General tab, and you'll be able to change the Favorites (as well as other folders) from here.
TweakUI is part of Windows Power tools Make sure you get the one suited to your Operating System.

Thanks whoozhe - TweakUI allowed me to fix the problem.
