Default This is going to be rather difficult....

Cannot get computer to boot at all.

Originally had Microsoft ME. Attempted an upgrade to Microsoft 98 while not knowing how to do it.

Current problem is as follows upon turning computer on:

    Floppy A:/ Installed
    Disk I\O Error
Replace the disk, and then press any key
Insert bootable media in the appropriate drive

Here is the disks and CD's I've tried:

Floppy – Boot Disk, DOS 6.22 Disk Number 1 Boot
    CD – Modem, Microsoft 98, 95

    Any ideas?

It sounds like you hard drive is not operating properly. When you put the 98 cd in at start up does it give you the option to load or run from the hard disk or from the cdrom?
If it does choose cdrom and it should take off loading windows.

Have you had the box open? If so you may have knocked a cable loose from your hard drive or motherboard. This may be why you are getting the disk i/o.
