    Default Corrupted Freecell game

FREECELL caused a general protection fault

I got this message when I opened up Wordpad while freecell was in use- it told me I had performed an illegal operation and the program would be closed? :?

There is a fault with my Freecell card game, the name Freecell at the top left of the game box has been replaced with what looks like gibberish- including an upside down question mark, as soon as the Game starts the hour glass waiting symbol is there, if I take this symbol outside of the game box this returns to the usual arrow symbol, because of the waiting symbol it is not possible to move any of the cards? anyone any ideas please, I have deleted and replaced to no effect.

First do you have Nortons Cleansweep.
If so then the CSINJECT can cause the problem.
Personally I wouldn't use Norton anything.
Second is IE If you updated from 5.5 to 6 recently that can cause a problem..
Third is some other games install their own version of cards.dll.
Do a search to see how many you have.
    Keep the one dated 8/18/2001
Last is to remove and reinstall the game.
Go to Control Panel. Open Add/Remove Programs. Click the Windows Setup tab. Click Accessories(not the check box). Click the Details button. Uncheck the Games check box. Click OK,OK and restart the computer. Repeat the steps except this time put a check in the Games check box.
    Have your Win CD handy

Thanks whoozhe. I dont have any Norton, except update which causes problems if I take it out.
I followed through your instructions and a file was downloaded from the W98se disc, but it's still the same as before, the only thing I have installed recently is Nero 5.5, the only games I have are Solitaire, Hearts,Cribbage, I dont have any complex or fast fingers on controls type of games, I wonder if I re-install W98se would that fix it? it's my favourite game, sad isnt it

try running the system file checker: click start>run>type: sfc

also you could try running a reg cleaner.
