    Go=Start=Control Panel= Add/Remove Programs,double click on this to bring up Properties, on the slider bar select Internet Explorer, double click this select repair, see if that fixes it.

    if the restore trick doesnt work, tr just plain old reinstalling

    Does You system boot up at all. Without Explorer it probably doesn't. If that is the case reinstall windows.
    Win98 use a Windows Start Up Disk With XP boot up with the XP CD or the recovery disk if supplied.
    I would guess you have a virus that has renamed explorer or corrupted it.
