As the system reboots keep tapping F8 every second, this should do it.Regards.

    Default tapping f8 next

This is such a strange thing. I've never had a problem defragging before and NEVER scheduled the chkdsk myself. I defragged just 2 weeks ago and both drives defragged just fine. I tried the task manager and when it opened there were no programs running - not even my browser. so there is probably a problem there as well.
I'm going to try tapping f8 as I reboot but I'm wondering if it could be that I have low memory. I know I need more - so could that be the reason?
You people are wonderful and I really appreciate your help

Sounds like you've got some malware on your system if there's nothing listed in Task Manager.

Try this first, see what's running, and post back.

Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Information.
Click Start, click Run, type msinfo32.exe in the Open box, and then click OK.

Click on Software Environment, then Running Tasks.

Copy everything that's listed under running tasks and include the list in your post.

Default I'll do my best to copy and paste the results

There is a very long list in the system info and no option to copy and paste.
So I will try my best to do it. OK I SAVED THE LIST SO I COULD COPY AND PASTE IT . I SURE HOPE YOU CAN FIGURE IT OUT. I KNOW I SURE CAN'T.

There are some suspicious looking entries in the list you've posted.

Follow these steps in order :

Control Panel > Internet Options : Clear History > Yes, Delete Files > OK, Delete Cookies > OK

: Settings > View Files, if any files still there click Edit > Select All > File > Delete

Scan your system for viruses, you can get a free online scan here:
    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Download, install and update Adaware here :
    http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

Download, install and update Spybot Search and Destroy here :
    http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10...ml?tag=lst-0-1

Run Adaware first, you can safely remove anything it finds. Then run Spybot S+D and delete anything shown in red.

    Download CWShredder here :
    http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html
Disconnect from the internet and close all running programs before running this one.

Once you've done all that, download, install and update Spywareblaster here :
    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
This will prevent further spyware infections. Check for updates about once a week, otherwise just leave it to do its' job.

If you are still having problems, download Hijack This here :
    [url]http://tomcoyote.com/hjt/[url]
Run it and post a log to this thread. Make sure you check the 'preserve my spacing' box before copying the log.
