    Default file extension detection

    Hello,
I have a 600 Mb file without extension. How can I know which program to use to open it?
Thank you a lot to the one who can help me.

Do you have any idea at all what type of file this may be ?

Right click on it go to properties, what is the file extension ?
    (txt,doc,jpeg,gif,pdf, etc)

    Cheers

That is a huge file and if you are able to see extensions on other files treat is with suspicion.
Best bet is burn it to a CD and delete it from the hard drive or rename it with an extention name that means nothing to anything such as .yuk.
If it is a neseccary file the system will soon tell you.
Chances are it is a temp file that was never completed.
