No start up
Just turned on my laptop.
Mains icon lit up.
I can hear bits in action but no checks are being shown in my LCD screen.
I normally see a floppy flicker and a CD flicker but nothing is happening and my screen stays black. Sounds seriousand costly . Can I just hit it like a TV :x

Don't hit it what ever you do, those screens cost about $1000.00. Have you tried starting in Safe mode? As you turn it on keep tapping the f8 key. If you can get in, get back to us. Good luck

Do you see anything at all on the screen. If not then chances are there is a physical problem and most likely a loose wire. Considering how often the screen is opened and closed the wires running from the scren to the laptop can be subject to good old wear and tear.
If that is the case a technician should be able to fix that quickly.Take control of your life. Leave others to control their own.

Really long shot/guess:
If your are using the AC adapter and battery, remove the battery and use just the adapter. Think that if the battery is shorted out the AC adapter can't provide enough voltage to run the PC.
If you have a volt meter I would check the AC adapter to maker sure it is working correctly.
