Default hal.dll? What can i do to fix it?

Hi. I am trying to upgrade to Windows Xp on my 98SE system with a pentium 4 and 512 Ram. However, i keep getting an error message when i restart the computer that it cannot find the file hal.dll. Is there any way to rectify this? If you know, post here.

Take a look at this http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_haldll_missing.htm and follow their instructions. Get back and let us know how it went. There is another option, that is to download the .dll file and install it, try here http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?hal . Hope this helps

Has your install requested your 98se disc as proof of eligibility for the upgrade? I believe I am right in saying no 98se disc- no upgrade. Also have you d/l the dll file and installed it as Canuck suggested? If so, where did you d/l it to. Regards
