There is a difference between the MSWord that comes with Works and the full MSWord version. They aren't interchangeable, there may be a conversion/patch for this, but I never found one. If you have both versions, you could possibly copy/paste between them but I wouldn't bet on it. There is a reason why Works costs a couple of hundred $ less than the full version Word .. you get what you pay for .. I did and in the end changed over to the full version.

You can download Open Office at this site
    http://www.openoffice.org/
It can view Microsoft Word documents as well as create documents that can be read by Microsoft Word. It is a free download. Charlie

Do you have Microsoft Works installed on your system?
You do say you are having problems with Works files.
Let me know the exact name of a file, including it's extension.
MS Word will oprn any works file. Works will not open a Word (.doc) file.
You can either save the file as a RTF which allows you to view it in any word processor or convert it using the Microsoft convertor from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/ Do a search for Works 6.0 Converter
Take control of your life. Leave others to control their own.
