Suggest you go to Creative and see if there is a new driver for your card. If you want further help, we need info on your system, especially model of sound card & operating system.

First try and move the card to another slot, preferable the furtherest away from any fans.
If this fails then run the system with the side panel removed.
If the buzzing stops then you have a heat problem and the sytem needs better ventilation.
If the sound continues then the card is most probably damaged.

The humming sound comes out of the speakers. Sorry i forgot to say that. But its not the pci slot because i took my network card out of it to put the soundcard in so i know the slot works. I already run my computer with the side panel off.

It's not a question of if the slot works, the card may be picking up interference due to the proximity of other items. Using a different slot may remedy the situation. Charlie

But the fan would cause a humming sound all the time if it was the fan causeing it. It is also in the fathest pci slot from any fans. But if it was the fans fault it would not cause my computer to lock up.

Never run a computer permantly witht he cover off. That is asking for trouble.
Boxes are desingned to distribute airflow with minimizing dust intake. Having the side panel off is inviting dust to come and ruing the system.
If a system runs to hot then get an extra fan.
As with your problem you say that sound stops after 5 minutes and now you also have hum.
Do you get the same hum through the headphones. If not then the problem is the speakers. If you do then the problem is the sound card.
Mute the microphone and test for hum.
If that cures it then there is little you can do apart from trying a different mic.
Disconnect printers, scanners and cameras and try again.
If the speakers run off mains power use a spereate power outlet from where you have other devices plugged into.
If all this fails then consider buying a better quality sound card.

If this only happens with one particular game then blame the game.
Check the Authors site for any patches.
Also up date DirectX and your sound card drivers.
If you purchased the game ask for a refund.
If you downloaded it the game may be cirrupt.
If the game is a demo then the sound loss may be on purpose.
