    Default Processor speed

I have just upgraded my processor to an AMD Athlon (tm) 2600+. I looked on the XP Help and Support, and although it says it is a 2600, the speed is 1913MHz. Is this right?, or am I just being stupid thinking that 2600 was the speed!!
    Would appreciate some advice.
    Thanks

AMD name their Athlon cpu's to the rough equivalent of intel P4 speeds in real terms of performance. In other words an Athlon 2600 is roughly equivalent to what an Intel P4 2600Mhz would be in terms of performance despite the actual cpu speed being slower. What you have to bear in mind about cpu performance is that the cpu archatecture is just as important as the speed.

    Thanks chaps.
Your explanation makes sense, the chap that did my upgrade said it was a 2600 MHz, that is where the confusion came into it.
