Default Why does my UPS unit keep beeping.

I've just bought and plugged in a second hand on-line UPS ( Lieber GXT 700 MT-230), and it beeps every 3 mins approx. Surely this isn't right as this would drive you up the wall.
I don't have a manual or the software for it, so I'm not entirely sure what the symbols on front panel represent.
I think the top left square is the battery tester (with led display in centre)
The bottom left is the power, I'm assuming.
When unit is connected to power, the 'Ac input' and 'Bypass 'indicators illuminate but 'Battery 'and 'Ups on' don't.
I am only using it for my home PC, so I don't require to hook up software.
Unless,of course, that is the reason for the beeping.
I'm hoping someone could shed some light on this for me.
This is my first time on this site, and I appreciate the service it offers.
    Thanks. Bob

Hallo Bob - If you go here - http://www.emerson-ups.co.uk/Products/GXT2.htm to the right of the page is a link for the manual. In the index (left hand side) you will see 'Controls and Indicators'. Hope this helps.Regards

UPS's are great to have, I would never be with out one again. However
be advised that the batteries may not last very long. My one year old 800VA Belkin, batteries are down to about 60 % of what they were when it was new.

As you can guess that are not cheap.

    Cheers

We do. Power problems have been a political hot potato here in Brisbane recently. Plus we're prone to get lots of electrical storms.
I've put together a home recording studio for songs and jingles etc, and I was anxious about losing all my music.
I guess I'll just have to keep an eye on the battery.
    Thanks. 8)

Do not be surprised if it has more than one battery. I believe mine has 2 since the battery voltage is 24vdc.

Will your UPS back up files, if the power fails ?

    Cheers

I'm not sure if it backs up files ( I doubt it), and if it did I wouldn't trust it.
    :?
I turn the PC off when I'm not using it.
And I'm banking on having time to turn the PC off now, if the power goes while I am using it.
