    Default Windows XP defrag error

    Hi,

I have recently defragged my hard drive using the XP defrag tool and closed it when I finished which was fine. Then I reopened the defrag tool again to check some thing but when I closed it this time it came up with an error saying 'this tool must be closed - please send an error report'.

This happens every time I do this, can someone help? (I have no win xp service packs installed btw)

    Thanks

Create a Restore Point, then go to Start>Run>type in chkdsk /f (note the space between k and /) >OK. When window opens type Y for yes to start on next bootup. Restart your pc and let chkdsk run. When back in windows see if the problem is corrected. Keep us updated on your progress.

Have you tried re-running disk defrag and see if it closes normally? Maybe last time something didn't complete properly. Charlie

Yes, but it still it does it every 2 - 3 times I open and then close it down tho. I have tried rebooting and re-running the actual defrag and I still have the problem.

    Thanks
