Dell Computer, 5 years old, running windows 98.
How do I - or can I - restore it to the original settings
and programs.
I have backed up all files I want to save.
I followed (thought I did anyway) owners manual, but
many files and programs are still on there - and it
still runs rather slow.
Thanks!
Chuck
I'm not an expert on 98, however if you take a look at this, you'll find what you need. http://www.cyberwalker.net/faqs/how-...stall-faq.html . I would suggest if you have everything backed up and can install the programs you want, go for a reformat. This should clear the drive. Make sure you copy the settings you need for e-mail and internet, this will get you up and running faster.
Another solution would be to use the restore CD's that came with the Dell system. If you format as per canuck you may have issues with drivers and hardware not being found and the Dell system restore CD would have all those fun things on it, including the applications that came with your system
