What the Easy Cleaner registry cleaner does is scan your registry and identify keys that do not lead anywhere or contain no valid values. These are usually left behind from removed programs, especially when not using add/remove.
This saves Windows time when searching for registry keys as there is less to sift through.

As it removes the entries that don't contain anything, it is unlikely that anything needs them. You can however just have a quick scan through the list if its only 175 (I mean a brief scan) and see where most of them are from. I cleaned up a computer recently running Windows 98 and it found 5000 invalid entries! I have not had any problems with missing entries so far.

    Cheers, Dave.

    Hi suej1946.
Now that you have used CCleaner and Easy Cleaner is your computer still running? Also is it running any better?
If yes, it was OK to delete the files, and you have cleaned up your hard drive and registry.
If you're still having trouble come back and let us know. Someone using this site will try to help with any problems you have.
    Regards guy9663.

Click on the link from DSR17 in post 4.
Then click on "download" in the bright blue area that runs across the top of the page.
Then click on the first option "Download files/EClea2_0.exe (2,72mb) (with installer, recommended)". The bit to click on is a different colour to the rest of the text.
Save to disc (make sure you know where it can be found).
Then find the setup file, double left click and follow prompts.
    This should see you right.
    Regards guy9663.

Hi Sue - Ran it myself for the first time over the weekend and came up with masses of duplicates. Being the coward that I am I decided to leave it alone. Like you, I am unsure which should go or stay. The particular reference to 'more than one copy possibly being needed to run different applications' was enough for me Some clarification would be welcome by me also. Regards.

    Hi all
well i was not going to put this but i feel i have to, my personal opinion is that these reg clean file clean progams are recommended to often, it is just not a click and fix, from personal experince using on an old computer these type of programs have caused me probs, OK so you can make a back up and this always works? when you start getting to an advanced stage of removing things it can cause more probs than it solves , some of these programs are very aggressive, i have not put this in to offend or criticise any one

Hi Paul - No offense taken. . Personally I'm a great believer in 'if it ain't broke, leave well alone'. I'm not experiencing any grief at the moment with my system. For me it was just a 'tidy-up' exercise, or not. Regards
