    Default Runtime Error-abnormal program termination

    When I tried to open my accounting program I get the following pop-up:

    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

    Runtime Error!

    Program: C:\Program Files\Intuit\Quickbooks Basic QBW32.Exe

    abnormal program termination

    I tried rebooting which didn't help

    I contacted Quickbook support, which had me uninstall the program & reinstall it in another location, but it didn't help.

    I remember having this problem a long time ago with another program, but can't remember what was done to fix it....I need help fast....can anyone tell me how to fix this?

    TY

    Go to http://knowledgebase.quicktax.ca/det...&cat=Launching and download the VCREDIST.EXE file. Hopefully this will work.

    tried your suggestion & I still can't get my program opened. I think there is something missing or damaged that I need to download, but I can't find it.

    I would appreciate any other suggestions.

    I think I solved the problem...last night I went thru the steps to remove spyware & adware.

    I just went back & restored all the things that were removed & afterward my Quickbooks program opened, but all my company info was gone. I had to use my recover discs to get my info back.

    TY Canuck & Stoney because from reading your suggestions, I came to the conclusion that the Spy Removal or Ad-Aware programs had removed something that I needed.

    Default Runtime error! Visual C++ Program:c:\programfiles\intuit\...

    Runtime error! Visual C++ Program:c:\programfiles\intuit\quickbookspro\qbw32.exe
    abnormal program termination

    Last night, I ran all the spyware, malware, virus, etc. scans and followed instructions on removing same. Today, when trying to get into my QuickBooks, I get the above error message and cannot access it.

    I'm using a Dell Inspiron 1150, 18.5g, WinsXP OS.

    I need help fast, as my boss is getting really perturbed with me. Thanks a bunch.

    Try holding down the ctrl key on your keyboard when you are opening quickbooks.

    i.e. hold ctrl key --> start quickbooks --> keep key down until program starts or you get the error message again.

    If you need fast help I would contact the quickbooks support directly if I were you. You will sit on hold for a bit but its their program, they should be able to help

    Hi, thanks for posting the reply, but holding down the CTRL key while trying to open Quickbooks did not work. Any other suggestions? Thanks.
