Display settings
After trying some of the helpful advice of other members, I ended up formatting and installing win98 on my old confuse, (Previous post refers. )
Now, I am having trouble getting any higher that 16 colors on my display and of course everything is huge on the screen.
Before I formatted I could get a setting of 32 True. I have a Trident video card (opened up the can and looked) cannot find and driver disk(?) for it.
When I check device manager, it states Standard PCI Graphics Adapter. I know prior to formatting this used to show a Trident driver.
What step am I missing to get a better display setting (32 true color)?

Hello Eagle - Go here - http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/blade-3d.html
and, assuming this is your required driver, download it. This should fix your problems because you seem to be a driver missing. Regards.I know everything about nothing, nothing about everything and precious little about the bit in between.

Yup you need that driver. If galena1's suggestion does not work:
Download and run Everest from here (scroll down to bottom & accept agreement): http://www.lavalys.com/products/down...dlid=1&lang=en
This will tell you the exact model of video card you have.
Now hopefully you will find the driver for it listed here (note there are 15 pages worth!)

Once you find it remember to use the win98 version.
If memory serves you need to sign up to download from Driverguide. Always a good idea to use a temp email address for this type of thing, thus avoiding potential spam in the future. Mailinator offers one such service (free & easy) and there are others like it, or you can make your own using hotmail, yahoo etc.

Good luck!

Thanks
Thanks Shinobi for this info, after plugging away I have been able to get a 256 color display. This will really help, it answers a whole lot of questions about my system that I could have used about 3 days ago.....live and learn, and it has been a learning experience.

Glad your up and running.
We all have a learning curve. It's funny actually but the last few questions I have answered on this board have all been for problems I myself had several years ago as a noobie. Alas I was not aware of Help2Go or how to use the internet in general as a tool to fix problems, and consequently I ended up shelling out a fair bit of money to get these relatively easy problems sorted by a professional....wait that's not funny at all come to think of it

Got my settings back! 32 True.
You are right Shinobi, this is a great site. Prior to this little exercise of mine (re-installing win98) my involvement was to drop it off at the shop and say, "fix it please'.
But the next time it will be a new computer and operating system.
