    Default driver installation problems

Whenever I try to install new hardware, I get error messages saying that the computer can't find the drivers, even though I can find the file. When I try to re-install the driver or try to get the computer to find the new ones, I get messages saying 'unable to install the device'. I am using Windows 98SE.

    Welcome to H2G suncat.
Are you sure the drivers you have are for Win98?
What hardware are you having problems with?

    Default drivers

I tried to install 2 more usb ports. The system won't recognize the new drivers. I also tried to install a new mouse & I get the can't find drivers message even though they have been installed correctly from the disc.

The problem could be a few things.
    1. The hardware is not suitable for Win98.
    2. The drivers are not the latest versions.
    3. Your motherboard or BIOS cannot handle the new hardware.
    When you say
I tried to install 2 more usb ports
do you mean a PCI card?
If you are more specific about the problem hardware (ie make and model) and your existing computer hardware I'm sure someone will chip in here.
