    Default separate keyboard for laptop?

I have a laptop (Toshiba Tecra w/ XP Pro), and I am going to use a separate keyboard rather than my laptop's built-in keyboard. Before installing the driver for the separate keyboard, is there anything I need to do to de-activate my laptop's built-in keyboard? Or will XP just allow me to use the new one upon installation?

Sorry for such a newbie question. I could not find any answers on line. Wondering if someone here might know.

    Thanks so much in advance!

According to the info I found at the Toshiba site, make sure you turn the computer off first, then just plug in the keyboard and reboot. If you want to use an external mouse too, a USB mouse can be used with the external keyboard (there is only 1 connection for ps2 keyboard OR mouse). Charlie

I just saved the manual to my hard drive and am off to read it. Much appreciated!
