try uninstalling and re-installing the virus scanner. You can go here on instructions..

I could only imagine that the install CD would have the file.

    Default resxx\mcshield.dll error message

I have this problem too. Did you find a fix?
It happened when I tried to uninstall Mcafee virus scan 8.0. Now I get a small window that opens that is labeled 'common shell' with the words 'I need resxx\mcshield.dll'. It stops me from opening email and most web sites, but I can still get into the microsoft site. I wonder what's up with that. HELP.

    STUFF ORF!!!
do this - download mcafee virussan 8.5i free evaluation version -this replaces mcshield.dll with whatever and all returns to normal. deactivate mcafee and wait for expiry .I think it is a nasty software but only when you try to delete it .
