    Default windows 2000 operating system

When I go to start/run/regedit / OK, I get an error message that it can't find the file while the regedit window is open behind.

For most of the applications, it happens. How could I solve this?

Read this article from MS http://support.microsoft.com/kb/1413...22120121120120 . Not sure if this will work, but instead type in REGEDT32 instead of regedit. Keep us posted.

It looks like you are attempting to open 2 copies of regedit.
If you find the first click is taking a while and you click again on OK or redo the Open sequence the message you see is the result of the second attempt.
If reg edit is slow opening it may be time to do a cleanup of the hard drive and derfrag it.
