Default Drive reads CDs but not DVDs!

Hey, i JUST bought a DVD from the store. Im here trying to watch it on my computer but it tells me "The disc in drive E is not formatted"

I thought this kind of thing only happened if someone tried burning the CD themselves.

I can't get it to play at all. I am either told "there is no disc in drive E" or that the disc in drive E needs to be formatted.

is there any way I can get this to work?

    thanks

Im not sure the exact model. I got this from somebody and the yellow sticker came off over time.

Yes we have viewed DVDs in the past with no problem

I have tried to view it on 3 different DVD programs..main on- interactual player is what we normally use.

I figured it may not be the dvd player, rather my computer itself.

so what i did was open up a folder and navigate to drive "E" that is when it tells me there is no disc

so my computer itself isn't reading the disc.

Are you still able to listen to an audio disk or read a data disk? Also the model should be etched on the bottom along with the serial number.
