    Default screen resolution

i installed windows me on an older compaq and the resolution is at 800x460 with 16 bit color. when i was running xandros the display was fine. i want to leave windows where it is and use partition magic to create a spot for xandros, but p.m. won't work with the display i have. any thoughts?

    Default 16 bit

got my resolution solved, but seem to be stuck on 16 bit. maybe I didn't go far enough with Everest.

You didn't give the model number which would help. Was this the driver you downloaded http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...2&submit=Go%21 ? It's download #1.

    Default Everest

No, that wasn't the driver. I found a link on Everest for Intel. The card was an older one (815 Chipset ). There was no current support for it ,but if you follow through it enough you can find some of the older stuff. I found it down to the 5 digit I.D. number. Since the computer is at a different location I downloaded it to a flash drive, along with the read me file(very useful ), and installed it . Rebooted and the screen came up BLUE, not gray. Worked like a charm. Everest is a utility everyone should have, from 2000 posts to 2. Thanks a lot.
On another note. I wanted to install Xandros on a dual boot with Windows on that computer. I've done that before a few times and I've found out it is much easier to use Partition Magic and create a partition for Xandros at the
front of the drive. Gives you a lot more control over the size.
