Default will i need to reformat?

my sister gave me her laptop since she replaced it and although i've done extensive cleanup and renaming the computer, etc. i cant figure out how to change the default computer owner- her. i think its because the computer was registered to her. is there any way to change this? the folders in her name are only in "my documents" and appear under her name on my home network. minor detail i know, but why have her name sprouting up when i dont want it to? thanks
