    Default dvd problems

    i have a dell inspirion 510m with a Sony DVD+-RW DW-D56A , the problem im having is that it wouldnt read any type of cds or audio cds but its fine when i use dvds, i cant burn anything ? i even updated the firmware but th4e problem continues can someone help me...

    What software are you using to burn with? Man, I can't even find this thing on Sony's website. As far as I figure, it's a slimline (notebook) drive...is this right?

    Hi - Has the Sony DVD ever read cd's?. I did read elsewhere that A DVD player uses a different laser to read cd's. I don't know if this is true but if it is then maybe running a lens cleaning cd may fix it.
    Have you tried uninstalling it through Device Manager and then re-installing?
    If this is recent problem, is 'System Restore' an option? Regards.
