    Default Using Quick Restore CD

I am purchasing a new computer and would like to do a system restore on my old one and pass it on to my daughter. I'm a little confused about what that will entail. I have an old Compaq Presario 520 and it came with a quick restore cd. If I use that, I understand it will restore the computer back to the factory settings. But doesn't that mean that I would need all the Windows and Explorer updates, since this computer was bought 6 years ago. Any insight you can offer me would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Michele

your understanding is correct. it's also important to install the updates easily available at the microsoft web page (of course depending on which os you are gonna restore)

If you have a broadband connection, it really isn't to big of a problem. If you are on dial up, it will take a long time to download all updates, but it is necessary after a restore. Charlie
