Default Can I do a restore and get rid of a virus?

Spysweeper says I have the nok-nok virus and cwshredder among other things on my computer and it does not get rid of it when I select it. My desktop has changed and all my menu items are missing. Can I do a restore and get back to an older point in time before I had the attack?

CWShredder is not a virus. It is a tool for locating browser hijacks.
As far as ridding yourself of a persistant virus do the following.
Right click My Computer, choose properties then System restore. Check The "Turn Off System Restore For All Drives" and reboot.
Now scan for the virus again. Once clean reverse the above.
As long as you are happy creat a new restore point by clicking Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools> System Restore
Take control of your life. Leave others to control their own.

    Default thanks for the help

In the past I have had a persistant virus and always tried to do a delete in "safe mode", but it does not always work. Thanks for the information and have a Merry Christmas.
