    Default Webcam Help

Hi everyone and Happy New Year.
I have 2 pc's both with Win XP home sp2 and my laptop also with WinXP home sp2. Thay are networked together wirelessly, sharing my broadband connection, and all is fine.
My problem: I have a webcam conected to my main pc which is reached by just having my ip address with in the webcam page, this works very well.
I received a new webcam from santa with the intention of using this to attach to my laptop and being able to set it up in the same way as the one connected to my pc, so off I went, firstly switching off the webcam connected to my pc but no joy, all I got was the square where the image should be with the small red cross.
I've checked my firewalls also my router/modem settings and all seems ok.
I can access the webcam if I download some of the free software e.g. from http://ww.com but I dont want all the other junk that comes with it, I just want to be able to build my page as I have with the camera attached to my pc.
The software that I use on my pc is Webcam2000.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

If the cam is connected by USB install the drivers before connecting the camera.
Take control of your life. Leave others to control their own.
