    Default win98se error

i recently restored this system and it's been running fine. lately however, it's been giving me an error message "the system will shut down because it has performed an illegal operation" but it does not shutdown anyhow. this happens with every application am running regardless. it's driving me crazy how do i fix this?

Check to see if all your drivers are updated (download from manufacture's sites) .. Graphic card, audio card, mouse and any other hardware/software that needs updating with firmware. Also have you downloaded all the updates for 98?

I would suggest you save all these updates and drivers to disk as well, if you continue using 98se. It will be easier next time.
