    I am a prson who wants to know about home networking. The software part mainly to know how to assign ip addresses to various systems and naming them

    I recommend you purchase a Nat & Dhcp enabled router and allow the router to assign the IP addresses. As far as naming the computers you can name them what you wish. As long as all of the PCs are in the same work group or domain your home network will function just fine. If you need more information do some reading at the link below.
