Default power surge on hub port

I have a psc 2410 hp all in one. I have used it daily for a bit over a year. All of a sudden it won't print anymore. So I contacted HP, they had me download the driver for the printer from their site. I have that on my desktop. I go to install this printer once again and it says, its a unknown device. I plug it into a different usb connection and I get the error "power surge on hub port" I disconnect it and click reset, only to try it again and ge tthe same error. I have tried going into the printer que to add a printer and it says unable to detect a new product... Any more ideas? Please...

Disconnect the printer. Install the drivers. Connect the printer when advised.
USB devices must not be connected when installing drivers.
