Default Windows Installation on new machine.

    Hello Everyone.

My E Machine 190 Motherboard and Processor have broken so I have bought a PC Easy bare bones base unit to replace it.

I have fitted the CD drive, 521 Memory stick from the old machine and a new 80g Maxtor hard disk. The machine boots up no problem.

Is it possible to install the OEM Windows disk from the old machine or do I have to buy a very expensive new Windows xp disk and therefore give more money to Bill Gates ?

The old machine is less than 2 years old and as such I have had less than 2 years usage of the origional OEM Disk. I find it a bit unfair that I have to pay over £150 for a new copy of XP home when I have not had full usage of the origional OEM Disk

In all cases I've seen the OEM software is coded to install only on the computer it came with so no you can't install it on another computer. Sorry
