    Default sound loss

    i am running windows xp every few days i lose sound not after running a particular program. i have to use system restore to a previos day to get
    sound back. can anyone please help?

    Remove the problem program and then reinstall it, see if that helps

    If BG's suggestion doesn't do the trick try -
    Start>Run> Type dxdiag in the box and click 'ok'.
    Work your way through the various 'tabs'. Some of the pages will have tests to run. Run them. Any problems will be detailed in the lower pane of the page you are testing. Note errors, if any, and post back. Also, under the 'System' tab of dxdiag will be a list of details. At the bottom of the list will be your version of DirectX. The latest version is 9.0c, is this what you have? Regards.

    What program????
    Some software make system alterations and never return them to the default settings. Skype is one culprit
    Take control of your life. Leave others to control their own.
