    Default how do i turn off sound card on the motherbroad

    im going to buy a pci soundcard. would like to know how to turnoff sound card on motherboard or do i have to ? Thank You Ed

    With most modern motherboards you do not need to change anything as they are usually set to autodetect.

    If you do need to change it there is a setting in the BIOS. Where exactly will vary but it is usually pretty easy to spot. You can normally toggle between enable/disable/autodetect.
    Watch the splash screen on boot up, it will tell you how to get into your BIOS. It is often done by pressing DELETE during boot up.

    You may need to select your PCI card as the device to use in the sounds section of the control panel in windows itself.
