    Default microsoft updates

    i am running windows xp. i am having trouble with installing microsoft updates.updates are set to be automatically installed but they are not doing so. whenever i try to install them manually i get the " FAILED"
    response .any ideas why this is happening.

    Hi olavin - 9 times out of 10 my auto update doesn't run. I usually download them manually here - http://update.microsoft.com/windowsu....aspx?ln=en-us

    How are you downloading them - dial-up? cable?.
    Have you tried downloading and installing them one at a time? It may help, particularly if you are on dial-up.
    Is your copy of XP registered? If not, this may be another reason. I think you need Activex to install updates, but you should be prompted if you need it. Regards.
