Hi - Try 'Start'>'Run'>Type dxdiag and click 'OK'. This opens DirectX diagnostics. Click the 'System' tab. At the bottom of the list is the version of DirectX that is installed. Is it version 9.0c? If not, go to this link and download it. There are also various tests under the other DirectX diagnostics tabs that you can run. Any problems should be detailed in the lower pane/window of the diagnostics.
