    Default windows media player problems

    I am running windows xp with a NVIDIA geforce fx5200 video card.....about a month ago I use to be able to watch movies on windows mediea player and now I try to watch a movie it says error downloading codec...what does that mean. and what can I do to fix it. I took it off my computer and then reinstalled it and I got the same thing.

    What did you take off your computer .. windows media player? WMP is a component of Windows XP so can't be uninstalled. You may have uninstalled WMP10 which reverted to default WMP9. So which version are you running now? Also, what format are the movies in .. are you referring to DVD movies?
