    Default Fixed drive not recognised

I have been given a compaq deskpro (Celeron 333) which I wanted to reserve for internet access.

When booting up however it comes up as no fixed drive present. The Hard drive, a WD Caviar 24300, works just fine when plugged into another machine.

I believe that the person who gave me the machine 'fiddled about' with the 'Setup' and I have been advised to re-load the BIOS - I don't know how to do this and I don't know whether it is likely to help!. Can anyone assist me please?

    Default

When booting press f10 (i think it is for compaqs) then in the bios choose to restore to defaults. Next simply save and exit. The computer will return to the factory default settings for the bios.

Hopefully this does it for you
