.rar files are the same as .zip files ... compressed data that can be opened with most unzip programs. WinRar is the name of the program that creates .rar files. If you are able to save regular files to disk, there is no reason why .rar files shouldn't save as well. Are you able to open the .rar files? What operating system are you using .. XP?

RAR files are data files. You burn them as you would any other data file. Usually the process is called CD ROM ISO
Basically there are two different ways to burn to a CD
One is for data. This means you are simply copying a file from one source to another. Every file on a computer is a data file.
The others covert those data files so they can be read by other devices. eg MP3 to CD Audio so the music can be palyed on a stand alone cd player, Mpeg to VCD or SVCD so thy can be viewed on a stand alone DVD player and so on.
A confusing one is MP3. You can burn them as data and play them on your computer or a stand alone MP3 player such as most DVD players.
Or you can burn them as Audio so they can be played on a regular CD player.
Take control of your life. Leave others to control their own.
